A camp for Russian kids will take place on the bank of river Volga (about 20 kilometers away from the city of Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvash republic). Foreign volunteers will work together with Russian volunteers as counselors and organize cultural and educational activities for the participants (local school kids – ages 8 – 15).
The idea of the camps is as follows:
- intercultural exchange
- educating kids interested in other cultures, tolerant to other nationalities, religions, races
- learning foreign languages
- educating kids to share the values of “Sodrujestvo”, of international voluntary movement and ethical principles: to be willing to help the local community acting out of self-initiative, to solve conflicts without violence, to respect human rights, to promote solidarity between human beings at all levels, to respect the environment, to be open and honest, to be active and willing to improve the social, cultural and economic structures of the local community, to be willing to work in teams and cooperate with each other
- educating kids to be leaders with active life position
Work:
- making intercultural and educational workshops (about their native country, ecology, water resources, human rights, antiracism, etc);
- teaching foreign languages to the participants (in a way of playing games, singing songs or improve their language skills through discussions);
- organizing some sport activities, strategic games, shows and handycrafts.
The work is done 8 hours a day, one day off per week, for the days off there are planned excursions to the city for sightseeing.
Accommodation and food: in the camp for children “Kuvshinka”, in wooden houses; counselors live together in male, female, mixed rooms. Shower and Russian sauna are available all the time. No sleeping bags are needed, food is provided in the local camp cafeteria.
Study: volunteers get knowledge and skills of organizing educational and intercultural activities for kids, teaching kids languages, volunteers will get the basic knowledge of the Russian language and the Russian culture, will get to know Russian people and Russian hospitalityJ. As the workcamp is located in Chuvashia – a small local ethnicity to the east from Moscow – the volunteers will get a chance to learn the culture of this local ethnicity, its history and difference from the Russian Culture. Volunteers will get a perfect experience of interacting with different people with different backgrounds and working in a multicultural team creating excellent lifetime workshops for kids and for each other.
Location: the workcamp is situated in Russia, Cheboksary. The volunteers will need to fly (or arrive with any other transport: train, bus etc.) to Moscow and take a train from Moscow to Cheboksary. In Cheboksary the volunteers will be met by the Russian volunteers and move altogether to the workcamp.
Languages: the working language of the project is English, but we welcome all the other languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Esperanto etc.
Extra information: the volunteers are expected to have some experience of working with kids and organizing activities, intercultural experience is very welcome. We especially welcome those who can swim as this season is normally hot here and we swim a lot with the kids and the assistance of volunteers is needed for watching the kids and swimming with them.

Name: Archeological workcamp “Terra Incognita” Russia, Cheboxary
Dates: 01 July 2010 – 14 July 2010

An archeological workcamp will take place on the bank of river Sura (about 30 kilometers away from the city of Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvash republic). The hosting organization is an archeological club “Terra Incognita”. The main activity of this club is archeological excavations in the region and archeological study. The workcamp’s goal is to make archeological excavations and study the findings which refer to the Stone Age and the Bronze Age. There will be about 30 Russian children, teenagers and adults – members of the archeological club “Terra Incognita” working on the site together with Russian and International volunteers. The camp is situated in the fields, the volunteers will cook the food themselves.
Work:
- making archeological excavations and studying the findings;
The work is done 6 hours a day, 2 days off per week, for the days off there are planned excursions to the city for sightseeing.
Accommodation: In tents provided by the host organization (own tents and not needed, but volunteers can bring their sleeping bags), access to the shower.
Study: volunteers get knowledge and skills of how to make archeological excavations, how to study the findings. The findings will be objects of culture and life of the local people from the period of the Stone Age and the Bronze Age – 8 000 – 3 000 Before Christ. The volunteers will also get the basic knowledge of the Russian language and the Russian culture, will get to know Russian people and Russian hospitalityJ. As the workcamp is located in Chuvashia – a small local ethnicity to the east from Moscow the volunteers will get a chance to learn the culture of this local ethnicity, its history and difference from the Russian Culture.

Extra information: the volunteers are expected to be interested in the subject and physically strong. Knowledge and experience in archeology is very welcome. There is extra Participation fee – 30 euros.

This international language festival is organized by a non-government non-profit organization “Youth Esperanto Association of the Chuvash Republic”. This year it will be the XVth Festival. The main aim of the Festival is to draw attention to the language diversity and emphasize its value.
The Chuvash Republic is situated 600km to the east from Moscow. It has two official languages: Russian and Chuvash. The Chuvash language is the 4th minority language in Russia according to the number of its speakers.
The Festival is an important and big event in the republic where about 1000 participants of different ages take part every year. For already 14 years a lot of people from different countries have been participating in the Festival preparation and organization.
The workcamp consists of 2 parts:
1st part – preparing the festival
2nd part – taking part in the festival
Work:
Helping in preparing the festival
Presenting the volunteers’ culture and languages during the festival
Taking part in the festival activities
The work is done 8 hours a day, one day off per week, for the days off there are planned excursions to the city for sightseeing.
Accommodation and food: The volunteers will be hosted in host families and youth hostels. The food will be provided. No sleeping bags are needed.

Volunteers will get the basic knowledge of the Russian language and the Russian culture, will get to know Russian people and Russian hospitalityJ. As the workcamp is located in Chuvashia – a small local ethnicity to the east from Moscow – the volunteers will get a chance to learn the culture of this local ethnicity, its history and difference from the Russian Culture. Volunteers will get a perfect experience of interacting with different people with different backgrounds and working in a multicultural team creating excellent lifetime activities.
